The ₹1,480-crore mission, to be implemented from 2020-2021 to 2023-2024, aims at positioning India as a global leader in technical textiles. Welcoming the steps taken by Government of India in its development vision of the technical textile sector, Raj Manek, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India (organiser of India’s leading trade fair on technical textiles) said that “focus on technical textile sector was need of the hour for India and the positive steps outlined in National Technical Textile Mission will give thrust to the production of a wide variety of textiles used in sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure, automobiles, defense, and agriculture. One of the strongest factors to consider are the use of technical textiles across high-impact sectors like – agriculture, medicine, sports, mobility, construction among others.” According to reports, India imports significant quantity of technical textiles worth $16 billion every year. “There is a huge potential in the domestic market. Strengthening the raw material eco-system through abolishment of PTA and the push towards developing and manufacturing these high-end technical textile products will go a long way in positioning India as a global leader.” added Manek A voice of the industry - the Messe Frankfurt Texpertise Network is a combination of the world's most important textile trade fairs. At about 50 events across the world, these textile platforms show what is driving the sector. In India, Messe Frankfurt organizes leading textile exhibitions and conferences including the renowned Techtextil India, Heimtextil India, Gartex Texprocess India, and Texcare Forum India. The platforms have been a hub of innovations and the company stated that it will continue to bring novel textile sector developments to the fore.
